Miguel Ramos was born abt 1773 in La Coruna, Spain. He was a carabinero or soldier in charge of the weapons of a ship. He arrived in Puerto Rico in 1803 with his brother Santiago. He had several children, Miguel, Luisa, Juana, Josefa y Juan. I have not found his wife. The book with this information does not mention the wives, just the men! His wife’s last name was Rodriguez. There were only two Juanes living in Fajardo in 1803 according to the author Cifre de Loubriel. One of them has a second last name Moctezuma and the other Rodriguez. One was born in 1840 and the other in 1848. Both dates work with the information given. This family settled in Barrio Rio Arriba of Fajardo. These two Juanes Moctezuma and Rodriguez were cousins, one was Juan Miguel our direct ancestor and the other one was Juan Luis his cousin. A lot of the members of our family came from the same place. Santiago died of influenza at the age of 24, and I do not know if he had any children of his own.
The people that came to Puerto Rico from La Coruna spoke Catalan a variation of the Spanish language. A lot of the documents found in the church of Fajardo were partly written in Catalan.
